E-SWAN DE&I Statement
The European Space Weather and Space Climate Association (E-SWAN) is committed to fostering
diversity, equity, and inclusivity (DE&I) within the field of space weather and space climate activities. We
recognize that a diverse and inclusive community with equal chances to participate is essential for driving
innovation, creativity, and scientific excellence.
E-SWAN embraces and values individuals from diverse backgrounds, including but not limited to race,
ethnicity, citizenship, gender, sexual orientation, disability, career stage, and socioeconomic status. We
aim to create a welcoming and inclusive environment where all members can thrive, contribute, and feel
respected. In order to achieve this goal, we seek advice from our DE&I working group.
We also strive to provide equal participation, representation, and leadership opportunities within ESWAN.
We actively promote and support the engagement of underrepresented groups in space weather
and space climate activities, aiming to amplify their voices and contributions.
We are committed to combating biases, discrimination, and barriers that hinder inclusivity. We
encourage open dialogue, awareness, and education on various topics such as unconscious bias, microaggressions,
and systemic inequalities to create a more inclusive space weather and space climate

innovation and operations, as it leads to more robust and comprehensive scientific advancements. We
actively encourage interdisciplinary collaborations and embrace the diversity of ideas and approaches.
